Barefaced Bass - Ultra lightweight high power bass guitar speaker cabinets

Customer Feedback

04/01/23 - Big Baby 3 - Germany

I was flabbergasted by how fast my cab arrived. About a whole month earlier than expected. Thank you, guys!

Also, it’s an incredible piece of gear. I absolutely fell in love with it and want to share that with the world.

following some troubleshooting and determining a fault with the crossover module:

Thaaaaaaaaank you, Alex!

It definitely was the module. I just replaced and tested the cab. It’s like I’ve added a whole new layer to the BB3. Now, I feel fully confident to take the BB3 as a single cab option to a gig. Before the fix, I would have missed the clarity in the upper spectrum. What was an amazing cab when not working correctly, is a monster now.

My 2nd cab is a Rheingold BA12. This cab has incredible clarity and “weight” in the upper mids-treble. Something I depend on with my looping rig. But the Rheingold just doesn’t deliver that low frequency energy. It kinda sounds like an electric bass played acoustically turned up. And if I add bass via an EQ, it’s starting to complain quicker than I’d like to admit. Forget playing octaver lines at a decent jam session volume.

Long story short, I feel the BB3 is the best out of both worlds (big bottom, crystal-like highs, and transparent mids to fill in the gap) and I’m so happy I found you. While I do watch all the SBL videos (including the Barefaced/speaker episode), I’m not sure it would’ve been enough to push me over the edge.
Having a bass player come to my venue (I’m an FOH engineer, as music has become too much of a pain to make a living with) with a Big Twin 3, playing a six-string with an octaver, convinced me that your speakers are like no other. FYI, I hardly had to use the PA for bass 😅
Barefaced cabs cannot only handle everything you throw at them, they also sound like I always wanted my bass to sound (bass to mic preamp to studio monitors).

Keep up the good work! And thanks again for your phenomenal customer support!

I’m really enjoying the cabinet - it’s big and beautiful, large and lovely!

I’ve also got a Big Twin 3 that makes me happy every time I play bass, which is every day.

I very much appreciate the work you and team are doing - thank you!

Just over a year ago I took delivery of my BB3 and thus far am so impressed with it. I really love the VOX grill cloth as it takes me back to my youth when I used an AC30.

I am a happy Super Twin owner since 2021. After playing bass for over 55 years, this little monster cabinet is just...  well, super. And super light! Great for a weekend and summer warrior like me.

I just wanted to send a message of huge gratitude and unbridled excitement in letting you know that BT3 arrived safely today and has been sat acclimatising in my studio for most of the day; I've had a quick moment to plug in and be rewarded with some truly delicious tones! Good lord, it sounds even better than I remember the BT2 sounding!!

Looks alone, it is stunning, I love the baffle colour, it's perfect and I can't wait to get it in front of the camera for a full detailed video review(s) and, of course, busy at gigs being put through its paces for fellow bassists to see.

Just wanted to update . I’ve had this cab for over a year now and it gets played at least 10 hours a week with a live church gospel music situation . It gets played hard and loud with loud drums and organ and Leslie and I am so impressed with it! It’s hard to describe how big and crystal clear and accurate this little cab is . I never get lost on stage ! No matter how loud other get ! Good job Alex and the team . If I had 2 of these I wouldn’t need front of house 😎

Your gear is phenomenal. I've been using it for over 10 years now, I will never play through anything else. My sound is mine, finally after 37 years of playing bass and still going.

I've got a Super Twin that I bought from you five or six years ago, best cab I've ever had. I want to add another 12 to it and have the chance of a Midget at a very good price, laid on it's side the Super twin would stack almost perfectly on it, is this going to work, as in will the drivers work well together? I'm assuming they're identical drivers. My amp is a Mesa D800. Thanks

Steve

Alex says:

Hi Steve,
Do you mean a Midget or a Super Midget? If the latter, then yes they're 12XN drivers, same as the Super Twin. If the former, then that's a 3012HO with quite a different sound (more mids, less bottom, less top, and less clean and smooth sounding), and less power handling.
We do make a really nice little 1x12XN cab that's made for stacking on the Super Twin, called the Super 3rd:
Glad the ST is performing well!

Dear Alex and magicians,

I absolutely love my Big Baby 3! Fellow musicians are wondering why they now hear what I have been playing for years. Great sounding gear!

I decided to buy another one to stack the Big Babies. Actually, I already ordered my second one! I happen to notice that there are no 3D-edges to hold them in place. My amp is sometimes ‘walking’ over the Big Baby and right now, I solve this by putting a layer of 1 inch thick granulaat (rubber) in between them. But I do not know if that works for a stacked duo BBs too. Do you have any tips for me?

Niek de Wit

Alex says:

Hi Niek,
Glad you're loving the BB3. I've never heard of a stacked Barefaced cab going walkabouts - the rubber feet and the fact they're heavier than tiny class D heads tends to keep them in place!
Best regards,

06/09/23 - Big Twin 2 - UK

I know from experience it's not as loud as my Ashdown X2 410 but it does sound nicer and more balanced, fits in the back of my hatchback and it's incredibly easy to handle.

A legend of a cabinet no doubt. I will not be changing it I'm a converted barefaced customer and one day I'll get another big twin 2 and have a truly epic rig.
