02/07/26 - Big Baby 3 - UK
Hi Barefaced,
Just a quick a bit of feedback on my new BB3, I received a few days ago.
The wait was torturous, in todays world of instant deliveries waiting weeks for a product was sheer hell... Doubt crept in, had I made the right decision, were the cabinets as good as advertised, were they the best in the world...
My new amp was waiting longingly for it's new partner, sat forlornly, silently in the corner, cab-less and cold. I practiced aimlessly with my combo amp, looking with envy at happy
customers proclaiming to the world there new arrivals on the Facebook user group, a lone player, only managing to play minor keys. Then I got an email, that shone like a summers dawn in my inbox, my cab was in transit... The next day I awaited the delivery of my new Baby, with excitement and anticipation in equal measures.
At last the doorbell rang, and the Stork, disguised as a DPD driver was on my doorstep, with my Big baby. The next 4 hours were fraught, as I had to labour strenuously, on the PC designing a PCB for some customer, then at last my work was done and I could unwrap my cab. Removing the carboard, then more carboard I finally could see a Barefaced cab, in the flesh, it was a cool looking cab, with the textured paint, and even better I could lift it with one hand ( a boon for this OAP bass player)
Finally I plugged my amp, and picked an bass to try out the cabinet, then after a while I picked out another bass, then... (This went on for a while as I went through every bass guitar I have). It was heaven to my ears, I could hear the instruments as they really sounded, the clarity was incredible. Using my limited pedals (Empress Bass Compressor, Broughton Audio SV-Pre and Fliptop), I could discern the nuances they brought to the sound. The honesty of the BB3 is almost frightening, any playing mistakes are there to hear, as it hides nothing, true high fidelity. So I have to concur with Alex's claims that
Barefaced make the best Bass cabinets in the world, they do. I now cannot wait to play and I am looking forward to band rehearsals, not just for the sound, but the ease of transporting my gear. A BIG thank you for making this arthritic old fat, very happy.
I was also lucky to pick up a Super Twin T, from eBay, with a cool red
baffle, so I have twice the pleasure and enjoyment, I now do half my
practice on one, then swap over. I am in the process of getting another
amp, and will try both together, more later.
