Barefaced Bass - Ultra lightweight high power bass guitar speaker cabinets

21/03/25 - One10 + Two10S - USA

I have a One10 cab that I bought from you and have LOVED for the past bunch of years. Just got a used Two10S through talk bass, and had a question about impedance:

Your "Using multiple 10CR cabs" page recommends pairing the One10 at 8 ohms with the Two10S at 4 ohms for a combined 2.7 ohms. I have an amp (Acoustic Image Clarus SL-2) that can run at 2 ohms, but I was wondering about pairing the One10 at 8 ohms with the Two10S at 12 ohms for a combined 4.8 ohms, instead.

First of all, is my math correct (would it be 4.8 ohms)? Secondly, why do you recommend the 2.7 ohms over the 4.8 ohms? I don't know which would be better, so I am set to follow your advice of 2.7 ohms, but I'm wondering the reasoning behind your recommendation. Is a lower resistance better for the amp? My amp says 2 ohms minimum, but it doesn't say anything about a maximum - is a higher resistance harder on the amp (is more heat than sound produced)?

Curious to learn a little more about this - thanks for your time, and thanks for building great cabs.

Loving the pairing of these cabinets (at 2.7 ohms, so far).
