Barefaced Bass - Ultra lightweight high power bass guitar speaker cabinets

27/02/26 - Big Baby 3 - USA

I’m not sure if this is a real intended feature in the BB3 or not, but I wanted to see what you think. When I was playing my bass using headphones, I was turning my tweeter knob from 100% to 50% (where I usually keep it for bass) on my BB3 and noticed it was actually influencing what I heard inside of my headphones. I checked multiple times, did the tweeter at different levels (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) both up and down and the result persisted accordingly. More and less tweeter level, respectively. My amp (a Seymour Duncan PowerStage 700 Bass) was muted and I have closed-back Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro Xs so it wouldn’t be acoustic bleed.

I wrote Seymour Duncan about it and they forwarded it to engineering and tried doing they same thing and didn’t get the same result. So besides the idea “that somehow the harness to the speaker outs and the harness to the XLR/headphones somehow come in proximity to each other enough to get some capacitance coupling” and “could be touching which there could be the remotest possibility of them crossing signal.” Besides this “most remote possibility”, they’re stumped and would be very surprised if this if even in that case that there would be cross talk between the signals, but wanted me to open up my amp to look at some wires to compare my wires with an image they sent 😬

Just figured I’d ask you because yeah…this is pretty weird as far as circuits go but I’m not complaining. I dig it!

Thanks,

Allen
