Hi,
The Big Baby has been great for me these last two years.
Recently, I've noticed some noise with the tweeter. It sounds like occasional crackles. I don't come anywhere near pushing this speaker to its limits although it has gotten a lot of hours of stage time. I haven't done any testing besides noticing the noise goes away when I cut the tweeter off.
Any ideas about what could be causing this?
Thank you,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Glad to hear it's been sounding good but sorry about this issue now. I had something similar happen to one of my BB3 cabs and thought it was a faulty tweeter but it turned out to be a bad connection on the spade connector/wire to the HF driver's terminals. Are you comfortable taking the grill off and HF driver out to check if it's that?
Best regards,
Alex

Hi Alex - since our last communication I've used the BB3 in the studio and also used it in rehearsal with one of my four(!) gigging bands and... YES!!! All is good.
The cab sounds amazing. It will be making its gig debut on January 19 and I can't wait! Thank you again for your patience and for holding my hand through the entire process. Means alot to be able to communicate directly with you and your team.
Hi Andrew,
Glad it's ok - that was a stress!
You could try it with the Bassman 115 Neo cabs. None will be a great match, they'll all make things blurrier but they will get you more output. Just be careful not to push the Fender cab too hard, same with the OBC115. EBS410 will handle the power better but will lose more of the BB3's tone.
I'd definitely want two BB3 with a LOUD drummer, gives you much more room to be dynamic in the band.
Best regards,
Alex

I picked up a Big Baby 3 earlier this year and I love it a little more every time I gig it out. It was the perfect upgrade for my mini rig.
I wanted to pick up a 4x10 and 2x10 for a modular 6x10 setup. My plan was to get both as 4ohm models because pretty much every head I have is 2ohms capable. Currently rotating between a trio of Mesas (strategy 8:88, big block 750, and TT-800) and an Eden WT800. Based on the comprehensive information on the site and the youtube channel
I’m assuming this will be a badass rig but wanted to reach out in case there was something I hadn’t considered. Thanks in advance!

Hi Alex,
Glad you're loving the BB3!
Regarding the impedances, I would tend towards an 8 ohm Four10 and a 4/12 Two10S, so you can get equal power distribution when run as 6x10CR. What cabs are you currently using in your big rig and what do you most like/dislike about them?

Alex

Hi - I have a question about the crossover on my Big Baby 3s. The documentation implies that the knob moves the crossover point, rather than just controlling horn level; my question is, where can I set this so as to run the 12" as full-range as possible? Any tips?
Love these boxes - they've changed my thinking on weight, watts, etc...
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Glad you're loving the cabs! The effective crossover point moves but the 12XN always runs full-range. If you have the HF control most of the way up, then the cab sound will be very very close to the DI sound. If you mic the 12XN it'll be smoother/mellower because you won't have the top-end of the HF driver. Lots of options! Trust your ears!

Alex

My BB3 arrived last Friday .
I would like to thank you for the excellent packaging! The parcel had several bumps and bruises on the outside, but the BB3 took no damage thanks to the multiple layers of cardboard and foam inserts. Excellent work.
I am really looking forward to taking the BB3 on the road.

Could not be happier with my BB3 cab , I'm pairing it with the new Boss Katana-500 bass amp and it's the best bass rig I have ever used... period!

Hi,
I have a Big Baby 2 and it seems to have started distorting on the low notes ( C on the 3rd string downwards).
I've read through your troubleshooting guide and I've taken all the steps suggested re: different leads, basses etc but the problem is consistent. As far as I can tell the sound is coming from the centre of the speaker cone. Adjusting the tweeter appears to make no difference. I have had the cabinet for a few years and it has been used 2 or 3 times a month but has never been pushed hard- the biggest amp I use is 300watts.
Can you help? Thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Sorry to hear about this! It looks like your cab was purchased by Andertons in mid 2020 so it's out of warranty but we can sell you a replacement speaker which will solve the problem. It doesn't sound like you've blown it but it's had far too many hours of use to be a manufacturing fault in the normal sense - a bad glue joint on a dustcap is usually found in final QC here or goes on the first few gigs. Here's the link to the replacement driver:

Hope it was sounding good until this happened!

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the prompt reply and I was obviously aware that it was out of warranty - I think I was just hoping you'd send me magic spell to fix it!
It is a little bit disappointing to have to replace the speaker on such an expensive item given the amount of use I've had out of it , but these things happen and I think your offer is very reasonable in the circumstances.
I'll order the replacement now - is there anything I need to know about removing the old one and fitting the new one?
Thanks for your help and yes, it was sounding very good before the problem arise!
Thanks
Andy

I got home from holidays and was finally able to put together my new rig. I'm in love with these speaker cabinets. I love the 1x12 but that 2x10 has incredible tone just like you said. They sound great together as well. I think the 2x10 will be my go-to most of the time. Thanks again for all your help and for making such an incredible product.
I am promoting you quite a bit on the Facebook pages that I belong to for bass players.

Hello, I have a question about the current model of the Big Baby 3. At what position of the tweeter control would the overall frequency response of the cabinet be flat? Thanks for your help. I’m enjoying my BB3.
Bill

Hi Bill,
It's about somewhere around a third of the way down. In any given acoustic space it's best to adjust by ear so it sounds right. Glad to hear you're enjoying it!

Alex

Looking forward to something amazing to practice with in my study – I can then leave the 2 x BB3s for playing with the band. My only regret with the BB3s is I don’t get to play them loud as often as I would like – I find them incredible in a big room.

I'm liking the BB3s very much. I love being able to pick them up with one hand, and the fact that they are half the weight of my Pearson/Beyma cabs. They bring a bit more heft to the bottom end of my sound, which I also like. I'm looking forward playing more gigs with them.
