03/01/25 - Reformer 112 - France
I am considering changing the V30 speaker in my Reformer 112 for another speaker, possibly a celestion greenback (just to try a different sound, nothing wrong with the V30 as such). I saw in one of your videos (https://youtu.be/kanKPlOcQXg?
I noticed that it was mentioned as important to have tape added between the speaker chassis and the wood, around the rim of the speaker, to seal the volume and avoid rattle. Could you point me to which tape to use for this please, so I can purchase a roll of it? I hope I will find it online if I know the brand and/or type of tape.
Many thanks for making great speaker cabinets!

Hi Thorsten,
We started fitting the felt tape in 2023 - I don't know of anywhere that sells it, we get it specially made, but we can sell you some. Glad you're loving the cab!
Best regards,
Alex

Just in case you don’t have a picture of the Radical underneath a full size Marshall style head. Here it is under my Suhr SL68.

Long time barefaced user here. Playing in the band ‘Mums’. Two loud and deep tunes guitar with 100w valves heads both with the 2x12 cabs with Neo Copperbacks.
We LOVE our cabs, and anyone we play with is always in awe of how loud they are and how light they are!!

05/02/25 - Big Baby 3 - USA
Hi Alex,
After reading your note, I bought a used Big Baby 3. As I began playing it, I first thought, “Hm, this sounds kind of weird”. As I kept playing it over the next few days and compared it to my other cabs, I began to realise that the sound from the cab just wasn’t what I was used to. Eventually, it began to sink in that the BB3 was doing all kinds of things my other premium cabs approach but don’t fully achieve. The BB3 is clearer, it goes deeper, it has more detail, and is tighter, in terms of the sound starting and stopping on a dime, than any of my other high end cabs. My old cabs have begun to sound unsatisfying in comparison. It’s really cool that the BB3 is small and light and absolutely holds its own as a solo cab, but the BB3 would be my preferred cab now, even if none of those things were true, because it simply sounds better than anything else I have ever played. The BB3 is an amazing achievement!
PS - I don’t need to add another cab to get the depth I’m used to with pairs of cabs. The BB3 does it solo.
Thanks again.

Just received the cabinet. This thing is unbelievable! I am still floored at how light it is. And I love the tone of my guitar through it.

Thanks again for your help!
I just have to give feedback... You must know this already but this cab is downright amazing!
The weight is even less than I estimated and the sound is the same from any point in the room.
This 150% as described. Also kudos to all employees for an A+ customer service.
(I have attached a pic for fun lifting the cab with the little finger, just because I can)
All the best,
Gyorgy

I just got my second Barefaced Radical 212H, this one loaded with the Neo Creambacks. I'm still stunned, even being an owner/operator already, at the total superiority of your designs. I went with the Neos because I'm periodically forced to load into my house ahead of gigs, and access is down uneven stone steps, often in the dark, and sometimes there are booby traps. The full-range-ness of the cab, the richness of sound spreading in the room is hard to describe in guitar terms, because it's unique. It's simply so much better, that there aren't even really points of comparison between my AVD cabs and the traditional cabs I've used. They include vintage and special editions from Mesa/Boogie and Orange, loaded with a variety of Celestions, Webers, and Eminences. The AVD cabs are just better in every way. I'm pretty stunned at the consistent sound between the two cabs I have, which are loaded with very different drivers. The first one has an H75 and DV77 combo, and the second is dual Neo Creams. They match each other remarkably well, which was a pleasant surprise.
I also want to say, I love the YouTube channel. Not only are the cabs better, but I'm beginning to understand why. My only request is more high-gain content. I think many of us metal folk are up our own asses about tone a little bit, but it is true that under gain, speaker voices can change everything (and still further once they are miced as normal). I really think your cabs are the shit for metal and hope we all catch up to the curve.
And another thing! I've noticed in your comparison videos between classic cabs and AVD cabs is how revealing the AVDs are of the voice of the speakers in question. When comparing the T75s, no one's favorite speaker for metal (though, for me, a solid choice for R&B), the Radical spoke in the voice I expected to hear from a close-miced speaker but at a distance in the room. Thoroughly exciting stuff. One of these days I'll have to get a pair of Upsizings!
Thank you again.

1 gig down and I LOVE IT! Everything I was hoping for! - 16th December 2024
I’m loving the cab even more! I have a quick sound geek question. What is your opinion on tilting back a cabinet? I’m playing some gigs at a particularly problematic sounding stage and in the past I tilted my cab back and it helped.
Thanks again!
Greg

Hi Greg,
Great to hear! If tilting the cab works, then by all means do it - you'll change the polar pattern which has pros and cons but you'll also change the mechanical connection with the stack, which is probably what's helped you if the lows were too boomy. The Super Compact has wider dispersion than most bass cabs which makes it less problematic on stages with bad acoustics, so if it was more of a midrange mud than than bass boom situation you may not need to tilt it at all. But trust your ears (with a degree of scepticism)!
Best regards,
Alex
