27/02/25 - Reformer 112 (G12H-75 Creamback) - Austria
Hi Alex,
Guitar-wise I'm pretty much of a Les Paul player (Blues, Classic Rock, Funk, Fusion), as far as amps/cabinets are concerned I've got a Bluguitar Amp1 along with a Bluguitar FatCab
I’ve installed a Celestion G12-75H Creamback in the AVD cab, as I had this driver from a former project. So far, I’m pretty happy with the new cab.
Comparing it to the Bluguitar Fat Cab with their proprietary driver, which is based on a Celestion G12M Greenback capable to handle 60W, showed these results:
-
Fat cab with Deeflexx and AVD cab show the same amount of dispersion, i. e. even standing right beside the cab the sound almost doesn’t change at all
-
Both cabs sound fairly similar, Fat cab got a little bit more low end
-
AVD cab and Deeflexx do not go together well, in this case low end and low mids seem to be attenuated resulting in a somewhat unpleasant sound
Fun fact: When I watched your YT videos comparing Celestion drivers, I didn’t like the Creamback very much, actually I gravitated towards the G12T-75. However, in combination with my amp, I’m pretty happy with the sound, seems like Creamback and Marshall like amps are a perfect match.
I’m also thinking about getting one of your bass cabs, I might address you for that matter again in a couple of weeks.
Best regards,
Georg

Hi Georg,
That's very interesting, thanks!
With tonal stuff a lot of it is about matching guitar, amp, and speaker+cab to the player and their sonic goals. Sounds like you've found a good combination for your stuff but I wouldn't say Creamback + Marshall is perfect for everyone, in fact the Creamback M65 sounds v different to the H75. Specifics matter! ;-)
Best regards,
Alex

I just bought an 8ohm Four10 cab of yours on the used market.
Absolutely brilliant. Used it in my first rehearsal last night and the tone, volume levels and dispersement were all excellent. Just what I was after.
Brilliant work,
Paul

I'm very happy. It looks great (I'm glad I chose the green), it sounds great, and it's easy to carry.
When I first picked it up, it was so light, I checked to see if you'd forgotten to install the speaker.
Well done! And see the attached photo.

Hey I just wanted to say this cab is incredible. You’ve all heard it before, sure, and I am still impressed. I’m excited to play. I haven’t been at all frustrated like before. It reminded me of the time when I had a chance to drive my mother’s BMW Z3 and I remember hitting the throttle and feeling no limit, like all I had to do was push down more and it would respond in kind. That’s what it the cab feels like. Like I’m holding it back because if I don’t I’m going to roll it. Fantastic.
I hope this finds you warm and in good company,
Justin

Longstanding Barefaced customer over here--I have a super midget cab that I love. I'm really interested in the Big 24 for my larger rig, which involves an all tube Traynor YBA300 head. I've been using a Mesa 4x10" for the last number of years, which I just sold last year after moving across the US. The cab sounded good in general, but was too heavy and large given the output--mostly the depth of the cabinet that drove me crazy, meaning getting it in and out of the car and up and down small staircases in Boston was a pain in the ass.
On the aesthetic side of things, I prefer the cloth grills. For the Big 24, I see there's a silver cloth option, black cloth, and then also a custom salt & pepper cloth. I just wanted to check in to see if there are any other custom grill cloth options available. Is the black similar to what is shown on the Big Baby 3 here? https://barefacedaudio.com/
Probably a long shot, but I love me a black sparkle grill cloth similar to what Ampeg does here: https://ampeg.com/products/

Hi Alex,
Cool plan! Sounds like the Big 24 should fit tonally.
Regarding custom cloth (and tolex), it comes down to what we can get. Allparts are our usual supplier for the custom stuff:
https://www.allparts.uk.com/
If it's out of stock they'll usually order it in for us. We use the same silver cloth and the same black cloth on all of our bass and guitar cabs, so there's lots of photos of it on other models.
Best regards,
Alex

Received the Three10 cab looks great, only had few quiet pracs up to now with my Aguilar 700 sounds good, will be giving it a proper run out next few weeks gigging.

14/09/23 - Upsizing 212 - USA
I just finished a three hour play through, listening session, audition or whatever you want to call it, on my new Upsizing cabinet. I have never heard such clarity and detail from my amp head, guitar, and my pedals. I’ve never been happier with my tone than I am now with this new cabinet. Everything just sounds more good-er.
I know that’s broken English but it best describes what I am hearing. I purposely sat well off axis to see if it made a difference where I sat. It did not make any difference. I was blown away by that. You guys really knocked it out of the park with this cabinet. I am very pleased with it.
Thanks for building the best cabinets,
Glenn

That's really great to hear!

The cab sounds great, awesome build quality. I do have one dumb question: I looked in the paperwork that came with the cab, but couldn't find a 'hold my hand and explain like I'm stupid" explanation for what exactly the two inputs on the back of the cab are for and the difference between them, and which one is which?

12/01/25 - Big Baby 2 - Belgium
Good afternoon, I just bought a second-hand Barefaced Big Baby 2 cabinet yesterday, which looks like a brand-new cab, but I have some distortion in the low frequencies on the E string when I turn up the volume.
The problem appears with an Aguilar 500 at volume 3 and gain 3, unless the cab can support 800w. Could you tell me if I have to check the HP or another setting? A good advice would be appreciated. Otherwise, the cabinet is perfect - light, with an excellent sound, thank you for that (and for my back!)
Alex

Hi Alex,
Sorry to hear about the unwanted noise! Are you sure it isn't the amp distorting (I know you don't have the volume very high but that doesn't mean the amp isn't reaching full power and clipping. But do check through this page and report back: https://barefacedaudio.

Alex

I have had, used and been delighted with my Super Twin for years, and would like a One10 to drag to rehearsals.

I am considering changing the V30 speaker in my Reformer 112 for another speaker, possibly a celestion greenback (just to try a different sound, nothing wrong with the V30 as such). I saw in one of your videos (https://youtu.be/kanKPlOcQXg?
I noticed that it was mentioned as important to have tape added between the speaker chassis and the wood, around the rim of the speaker, to seal the volume and avoid rattle. Could you point me to which tape to use for this please, so I can purchase a roll of it? I hope I will find it online if I know the brand and/or type of tape.
Many thanks for making great speaker cabinets!
Thorsten

Hi Thorsten,
We started fitting the felt tape in 2023 - I don't know of anywhere that sells it, we get it specially made, but we can sell you some. Glad you're loving the cab!
Best regards,
Alex
