07/01/26 - Activier One10 - UK

I’m so sorry but I’m afraid the Activier isn’t going to work for me.

Unfortunately I cannot get to the volume I need without a second cabinet which sadly was not the goal.

Richard

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Richard,

Not a problem! How loud a situation did you find it working well in and when did it max out for you? How was it loudness-wise when using a second cab (was that the Super Twin)? It all helps us advise future customers on what this little active cab can do (and what it can't!)

Best regards,

Alex

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Alex

Thanks for the reply.
I found that the nearer to max volume I got, on its own the cab started to distort. So when really pushed it just sounded kind of boxy and not nice. I experienced similar if I pushed the bass level in either the guitar pre-amp or the pre-amp pedal.
At say 3/4 volume things were a lot better and  I liked what I got but this did not work in my band with a couple of loud guitarists. The drummer uses an electric kit so no issues with him, though I expect a traditional kit would have life harder for me.
When hooked up to the super twin, I’d say I ran the Activier somewhere between a third and half the volume control and I was plenty loud enough.

If you would like, I can bring my bass and pre-amp pedal over so you can hear for yourself.

I am a massive fan of your products and so I want you to be as successful as possible. I wonder what a 350 Watt amp in a Two10 might be capable of 🤘

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard,

That makes total sense to me! It's quite funny how the Activier One10T has developed, because I designed the 10CR speaker for the the Six10 and then it's accompanying Two10. Quite a lot of people had to persuade me to make the One10 but I'm glad they did because it's proven very popular and plenty loud enough for a surprising amount of bassists. And the One10 didn't have a tweeter option until recently, because the 10CR goes high on its own and its meant to be more coloured sounding anyway - but people kept asking so we tried it and it worked much better than I was expecting. The Activier was designed for guitar, not bass, but again someone wanted an active version of the One10T so we made one and it was way better than I was expecting, much more capable!

I've rehearsed with an Activier One10T (bass, drums, vocals, no guitarists) and it's not loud enough for me - it worked but only by virtue of the loudest moments also involving lots of distortion which blended nicely with the sound of the 10CR overdriving. But I do play really loud! ;-)

We're actually doing an Activier Two10ST for someone at the moment, and I know we've got people gigging with an Activier driving two or three One10 cabs in (moderately loud) rock bands. But there's more powerful active stuff in the works...

Best regards,

Alex

15/25/25 - Two10ST - Germany

I haven't really come to a definitive conclusion, except that the Two10ST is a marvellous bass cab and a lot of fun to play!

Oh, as for the 610 having speakers closer to your ear: I put the Two10 on top of the Ampeg 610, and it was hardly any difference to it standing on the floor. So the dispersion of the cab is really, really good, also vertically!

My Two10S arrived bang on time and in perfect condition.

It looks and feels amazing and unbelievably light.

I won't be able to try it out until later but I'm sure it's going to be stunning.

Please thank everyone there for building and getting this to me so quickly, it's got its first gig tomorrow night so straight in and no messing around!

Cheers,

Leo

The cab arrived today. I will spend the evening trying to manage my excitement while testing it.

The outer packaging had a little dent on one edge, but the inner safety cardboard edge was almost untouched, so kudos to your packaging!

VAT to Germany was around 220,- Euro, in case other customers ask you.
I'll give you an update once I tested the cab for a while. My first impression after 20 minutes playing is that any note I play is massaging my belly considerably more than the SVT 610 HLF.

I have a first generation Two10 that I bought direct from you in 2017, which I absolutely love but it has a silver fabric speaker cover.

I was wondering if there would be a possibility that I could purchase a metal grill for it as I prefer this look.

Is this something that I could buy from you?

Kindest regards,

Jon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Jon,

Glad you're loving the cab! Sorry, you can't change the grill - more info here: https://barefacedaudio.com/pages/cloth-to-steel-and-vice-versa

I have a Super Twin and a Two10. I've been considering getting a real deal tube amp, like a SVT or Super Bassman. Either cab should be okay with either amp, right?

Is there one of the two y'all prefer through your cabs? Might be a huge loaded question, so you don't have to go into much detail. They both have adjustable ohm settings and I should manage.

BTW - I love the Two10 so much, I might get a second one with a tweeter. I might sell the Super Twin in advance. I love it, as well, but I'm preferring 10s these days and also prefer the regular tolex type cabs like the Two10.

Seth

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Seth,

It entirely depends on what you want tonally! We are just in the process of launching an SVT width version of the Super Twin so it looks better with big valve amps on it. But it sounds like the Two10 is more your thing, in which case adding a second will give you a great modular rig.

Best regards,

Alex

I got the Two10 about three months ago, and I am getting tired of lugging it back and forth to the rehearsing space - because I cannot be without this sound - so I decided to get a One10 for home practice. And maybe even for a stack if we have a HIGH volume gig.

I have to say, the Two10 has blown away me, the drummer, and everybody else in the band. It is almost a bit silly, but it has opened up a new door for me, creatively on the bass guitar. So thanks for making good gear!

The cab has arrived! It’s a thing of beauty. I’ve had a quick test with my SVT and ‘64 Gibson EB0 and it sounds so sweet!

This is a perfect rig for my needs right now.

Many thanks to you and everyone at Barefaced. You are all legends 🙌

Got my Two10 last month, after several years with a couple of Super Midgets. I think the Two10 is even better! Love the tone.

I have a Barefaced One10 I bought from you several years ago and it is just the best thing I've ever gotten!

For years I ran it with a Walter Woods amp, and when that failed I moved to an Acoustic Image and it just sounds wonderful (I play jazz double bass).

Ran into a few gigs lately where I needed a bit more volume than the One10 could produce - I saw a Barefaced Two10 for sale on TalkBass, and I bought it, thinking if I loved the One10, the Two10 would be similar just with more power handling (and air moving) capability. Cab arrived (mint) and I found that to my ear it is much more darkly colored than my One10. I switched back and forth with my Acoustic Image first plugged in the One10, then the Two10 and the latter is just much darker, muddy and undefined.

Is this just the nature of that cab - or perhaps it is just my particular sound? I could combat it somewhat with EQ, but it just doesn't compare to what I get from the One10. The Two10 sounds incredible with an electric bass, but just doesn't seem to work like the One10 does with my acoustic. Is this all my perception, or is there a difference between the One10 and Two10 for 'coloration'?

What cab might you recommend for the clearest, full-range, uncoloured reproduction of my acoustic sound?

I know that sound can be so subjective, but thought I would ask.

Thanks much!

Alex

I’ve got 3 Two10 cabs. I really like having the portability and love the sound!

Great with Aguilar Db 751 or Orange AD200. To be honest the Barefaced 10s have a character that seems to match well with any head. I have also had good tones with Mesa 800+ and Bergantino Forte. You can't really go wrong with those cabs.

28/06/25 - Two10S - UK

I have a Two10, which I love. However, I never use it horizontally - plenty enough bass when it's vertical and many pubs and clubs are tight on space as well. How easy would it be to fit another handle on the top (or end!) as it's difficult to get a grip to manoeuvre it when it's vertical.

Would I need to do some disassembly to install the bolts or could I screw it on using a plug or cavity fixing? Worried I might drill through a cone or something!

Kind regards,

Simon

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Simon,

We do occasionally fit portrait position top handles and for that we drill the holes on the CNC machine and fit t-nuts. So do it it properly you'd need to take the grill off and drivers out etc. Obviously if you have a standard cover then it'll cover the handle hole. We can sell you the parts if you fancy some DIY. Glad you're loving the cab though!

Best regards,

Alex

I own 2x One10's and 1x Two10 retro cabinets... Yes, I am still very pleased with them :D

[used the Two10 on its own yesterday: outdoors 20pc big band gig and it was exemplary.. what a fabulous cab!]

?'s:

1. One of my drivers I think is damaged... delivers expected SPL OK but gives a paper scraping type sound - not as bad as a fuzzbox, but the others are clean.

Double bass esp my NS-CR5 which is a beast, has done this... Repairable??

2. I would like be able to raise them up using short speaker stands (35mm socket) for better projection and ear-level stereo spread...

If I use top-hats mounted underneath (similar to PA speakers) how would having the cylinders penetrating 65mm into the cabinet affect the sound/tone - or is there even internal space to do this (in line with the C of G) ??

3. I see you now have 2x way variants (T's) of these cabs. Is it feasible to retro-fit these tweeters, and if so at what cost?

Kindly advise

p.s. I am intrigued by the prospect of a pair of Big Baby 3's...

Next time there's a trip to/near Brighton planned I would like to arrange a test.

Many thanks for your esteemed contributions - and providing the generous and most comprehensive tech data on sound anywhere in the Universe..! :D
All the best

Geof

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Geof,

Good to hear from you!

1. The 10CR is replaceable - we don't have recone kits.

2. We do fit top-hats like that as an option. We reinforce the inside of the cab and you have to be careful to make sure it'll clear the driver magnet but I think that's only an issue on the One10T.

3. It's impossible to retrofit the tweeters - almost every panel is different to get the tweeter etc to fit.

Let us know when you'd like to visit!

Best regards,

Alex

Thanks again for the fast delivery, Premium Quality work

I had the BB2 Gen 3, now I have the Two10; two different worlds

But definitely above the others :
Efficiency (SPL, this is what I call powerfully)
Diffusion (wide)
Transient response
Sound signature: musical I the lows, low mids, high mids , trebles (far enough even without tweeter)
Sealed and ported, best of both worlds
Style and design signature

My config: D800+ PB’62 + TI jazz flats and effectrode PC2A (tube compression)

I should have  bought BAREFACED already 20 years ago

Merci beaucoup

I must say that I'm delighted with the three cab modular set-up.

Over the past years it's been really good to see how well your business venture has taken off.

On your recommendation I acquired a Two10 to go with my Four10 and it works perfectly with my orange AD200 and Terror Bass amps. How is a Two10 sounding that big? So pleased with it.

I have a Two10 cab I ordered in 2016. Still love this thing! I'm considering to pair this with another Two10 when I'm playing larger venues, but i'm uncertain if its actually doable to pair it with the newer models? And would it somehow be possible to order it with the old design, so a new cab would match the old one??

Cheers

Mathias

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well as your Two10 (4 ohm) has a cloth grill we can do a matching Two10S with the old badge if you add this customisation:

https://barefacedaudio.com/products/old-badge-block-style-not-script-style

If your amp is a 2 ohm minimum load then it'll be fine driving the pair with the Two10S @ 4 ohms. If it's 2.7 or 4 ohm minimum load then you'll need to upgrade the Two10 to a Two10S using this kit:

https://barefacedaudio.com/products/two-10-switch-kit?variant=21500318679098

Then you'll be able to use either cab at 4 or 12 ohms, so the two cab stack will be 6 ohm nominal load which all amps are v happy with and gets pretty much full 4 ohm power. Hope that all makes sense!

Best regards,

Alex

A bit cramped in the engine room on Saturday, but the 2x10's performed impeccably as usual. Thanks all at HQ 👍
