Why would anyone want a 3x10" bass cab, isn't that just odd (and not just numerically!)?

In short, our Two10S is a very loud little cab but it has its limits when guitarists start rocking harder. Our Four10 (or a dual Two10S stack) goes properly loud but plenty of bassists don't need that much output. The Three10 splits the difference in terms of output whilst maintaining that uniquely warm and fat yet clear and punchy tone that our 10CR cabs have become known for - and no, they don't "sound like tens", if anything they're more like a blend of the depth and fatness of the very best heavyweight 2x15" cabs from back in the day mixed with the punch of the great 8x10" cabs, plus some added clarity and superior dispersion.

You'll notice it's a different form format to the Two10S/Four10/Six10/Eight10 family - as we had to switch to alternate impedance drivers (see below) the Three10 should not be used as part of a modular stack. Instead we've made it taller and narrower like our Super Twin, as that's just a really neat size and shape for gigging life. It's got the chunky dish and bar handles like the Four10 but the tilt and roll wheels of the Super Twin - best of both worlds!

It's taken us a long time to make this cab, simply because if we used our standard 10CR250 drivers (about which there's almost nothing "standard", they're amazing!) it would end up a very weird impedance. And weird impedances are problematic when it comes to amp matching, so we don't want that.

We finally bit the bullet in 2022 and set our man at Eminence, the esteemed McJerry, the challenge of making an alternate impedance version of the 10CR which would make a 4 ohm 3x10" possible - if you haven't got involved in loudspeaker driver you might assume that you just "change the impedance" but it's not as simple as that, it's a juggling act of voice coil wire gauge and winding pattern to get the DC resistance where you want whilst also getting the BL, inductance (and semi-inductance), Xmax, Mms and resulting Qes, Cms, Res, Fs, etc where you need. And that isn't a problem that can always be solved - for instance it's impossible to make a 4 ohm version of our 12XN550 driver without losing efficiency and/or power handling (and there's no point doing that!) We know the standard 10CR250 has outstanding tone and sonic performance so the alternate impedance version had to perfectly match that, with no compromises. And now the 10CRA is done and a 4 ohm Three10 is possible!

Need more output? You can use two of these or... well, we don't have anything else yet. But we could totally make a One10 with a 10CRA driver (12 ohm nominal impedance) that you could stack on this Three10 and have a rig that can still be considered a 4 ohm nominal load (trust us on this - impedance is an odd and complex thing and the glorious thing about 10CR or 10CRA drivers in Hybrid Resonator enclosures is that they have much smaller swings in impedance magnitude and phase than most drivers in most cabs). If you're really persuasive we could make a wider version of the One10 (sideways) so it looks really good on top of a Three10 - cloth grill only though, we don't want to order a load of steel grills for what we think would be a rather niche product...

Think i've got seven or eight gigs under the belt with mine, and it sounds better every time as the speakers loosen up.

Totally awesome cab 🤟

First gig with the Three10. This thing sounds huge!

Hi guys

Just to let you know that my cab arrived safely this morning to the wilds of a very wet and windy Somerset.

No issues with the packaging, good communication from DPD and, once I got into the box, all was well and sounds fantastic. Very different from my SC, lot more middle range apparent which I'm sure will smooth down over usage but really looking forward to getting to use it at gigging volume on Friday this week. Sounds great with my Orange OB1-500.

Thank you for getting it to me in time and so superbly packaged.

Keep up the good work

Geoff

Just received my Three10 and it sounds fantastic with my OB1. Clear right across the range with the EQ's flat. Looking forward to tomorrow nights gig even more. Was using a SC which is also great.
